Child labour, a way to survive - Bangladesh

2010-04-17–2010-04-28

Child labour, inhumane working conditions and long days. This is the reality for the workers of the brick-factories in Bangladesh. Bans and protests against this from international governments, human-rights organizations and other NGO:s have been heard during the years. But reality in Bangladesh gives people no choices. With nothing to offer except their hands and bodies for simple labour, they work for a low salary, children are working instead of going to school, but a choice of survival is given to them. Many poor people in the cities without any work dies in diseases, children are dragged in to the sex-industry and no social security is offered. Right or wrong to let children work in a brick-factory? The answer is not yes or no. The answer is to understand why they do it.
