"Curse all motherfuckin’ politicians and all the fucking corrupted people!" The band takes the stage 20 minutes late. District Unknown, the first and only metal-band in Afghanistan, hails from a city in turmoil, beset with suicide bombings. On stage in Kabul’s first ”Battle of the bands” ever. Channeling their hate through metal and knowing Afghan metal-music will die with them they see their music as a weapon. To put an AK-47 against someones head and pull the trigger is easy. For District Unknown, too easy. "Metal can be aggressive, but there is a difference between beating someone up with a fist and beating them with music and a voice. Here in Afghanistan we’re missing a language that talks. Instead we have a language of violence and retaliation.
