2011-02-24The militia movement is marching again. With two crucial ingredients present– economic downturn and a Democrat president – Americans are once againstockpiling weapons, ready for a war with the government. The modern militia movement as we know it, was born during the 90’s. It reached its peak with the the occurrence of some crucial events, like theWaco massacre and the militia inspired Oklahoma bombs. Today, the number ofgroups is once again exploding, but in 2011, it has not yet reached its peak. According to Southern Poverty Law Center has patriot and militia groups increased by 61 percent Between 2009 and 2010 . Both analysts and militia groups themselves conclude that all it takesis a spark for the situation to catch fire.– We don’t want to start a war with the government, we’re here to defend us against it, says Rick Light leader of Texas Well Regulated Militia that’s our constitutional right and nobody can take it away from us. – If the government comes to take our guns… then they got themselves an armed conflict.
