The Kenya conflict
2008-01-13–2008-01-19"No justice, no peace," the violent mob shouts as they torch the barracks in Nairobi’s slum. The conflict that erupted in Kenya after the presidential election in December 2007 has exposed fissures in the prominent East African country’s façade. Kenya found itself in a crisis where its population was forced to equilibrate between alternatives. Justice or peace? To break the law or to escape? More than 500,000 people have been displaced by the violence and the official death toll of 1,000 is probably heavily underestimated.
